Following the sudden suicide of the beloved SHINee lead vocalist Jonghyun, many Kpop fans decided to make a move to draw Korean Entertainment agencies eyes to the huge underlying issue of idol’s mental health issues.

Although some idols have been vocal about their struggles with depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses, 2017 was the first time in a long time that an idol acted upon their depression and ended their life.

Kpop fans started a petition on change.org titled “Mental Health Support for Artists in the Entertainment Industry.”

The petition fans made asks for,

“We want to ask all entertainment agencies to make a plan or program to monitor mental health in their employees not for the company’s interests, but for their artists’ well-being and a backup for the employees that the program won’t be used against them and harm their careers but to help them get back on their feet.”

So far, over 400,000 fans have signed the petition, this leaves the petition less than 100,000 signatures away from its target signatures of 500,000.

Kpop fans plan on sending the petition to various entertainment companies in South Korea as well as the South Korean government.

Here is the link to sign the petition.

Do you believe the petition might help? Will you be willing to sign it?[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
