Following the splashing premiere of tvN’s highly anticipated “Hwayugi,” fans were very excited about its second episode, after tuning in, viewers were both confused and disappointed.
tvN released an official statement addressing the various editing mistakes in post-production of the second episode, they said,
“We sincerely apologize for the delay in the second half of episode two broadcasting. We will do our best in the future.”
The mistakes aired throughout episode 2, in one scene where Oh Yeon Seo’s character is auditioning, fans noticed the wires holding the ‘demons’ up, they were also a scene were the green screen hasn’t been edited out properly. In another scene viewers also noticed visible wires holding up a picture frame.
In the second half of the episode and after the drama went into commercial break, the break took too long, tvN broadcasted various trailers for the film “Mother,” and the variety show Youn’s Kitchen” as well.
During the entire long commercial break, a caption was shown on the screen that reads,
“The broadcast was delayed due to internal issues, we ask for your understanding, the broadcasting will resume shortly.”
Eventually, “Hwayugi” returned into airing normally again, but the broadcast was then abruptly cut at around 10:38 p.m. KST, tvN announced that the broadcasting is ending due to internal issues.
tvN has released an apology regarding the issue, they said,
“The broadcast of ‘Hwayugi’ second episode on December 24 didn’t go smoothly. We would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, we will make sure this doesn’t happen again. We plan on re-editing the second episode and airing it again.”
They explained the reason behind the mistakes, they said,
“We were trying our best to complete everything within the short amount of time we had, the production’s crew passion and ambition led to the huge mistakes in today’s broadcasting accident. We will repay today’s broadcasting mistake with better broadcasts in the future.”
Episode two of the drama will be re-edited and broadcasted at a later date due to the mistakes.
