The upcoming MBC drama “I am Not a Robot” held its press conference back on December 4, the entire cast including Chae Soo Bin, Uhm Ki Joon, Kang Ki Young, Hwang Seung Eon, Park Se Wan and director Jung Dae Yoon were present for the event.
The child-turned-adult actor has only played dark roles so far, and “I am Not a Robot” is the actor’s first EVER lead role in a romantic comedy.
The actor talked about his experience working on his first romantic comedy, he admitted,
“It seemed a lot harder to be at first. I was used to working on dark characters who have hidden past, this is why I felt more accustomed to it. It was hard to get into a melodrama character, it has been an interesting experience.”
The actor has also credited Chae Soo Bin, the female lead in the drama for helping him out, he said,
“I heard that when working on melodramas, it helps if you truly care for your partner when you’re doing scenes, I came to believe that its true. In scenes with her (Chae Soo Bin), I found myself at ease, she has been very helpful to me.”
The actor concluded,
“I was terrified of playing a lead in a romantic comedy at first, but I felt attracted to Kim Min Kyu (his character name), he is serious but slightly odd.”
“I am Not a Robot” tells the story of the perfect son Kim Min Kyu (Yoo Seung Ho) who has allergy to humans, and Jo Ji Ah who pretends to be a humanoid robot Ah Ji 3. The drama first episode airs on December 6 at 10 p.m. KST.
