MBC’s “Idol Star Athletic Championships” will resume after a two-year hiatus.

According to a report by News1 on the 20th, the ISAC will be held again this year in time for Chuseok (Korean harvest festival). Thus, the ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’ will be returning to viewers after a two-year absence since the Chuseok special in 2022.

This year’s ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’ is scheduled to be recorded in early August and is currently in the process of recruiting participants for various events.

According to multiple sources, this year’s ISAC is expected to showcase idols’ new aspects through various events such as futsal, golf, and relay races.

Fans have had mixed reactions to the show’s return as many were happy it got canceled the past couple of years.

While it was originally a hub for discovering and highlighting new idols, the decline of ‘ISAC’ is a natural course of events. As a gathering place for hundreds of idols and their large fandoms, safety issues were consistently raised. Before addressing negative public opinion, issues of abuse surfaced. There were criticisms that the broadcasting company forced agencies to mobilize artists and imposed strict on-site management. Unreasonable practices, such as agencies delegating banner production costs to fandoms, continued.
