SM Entertainment, the agency of the group NCT, has issued an apology amidst controversy surrounding member Renjun‘s mistaken public exposure of a random person’s phone number, which was misinterpreted as that of a private fan.
Recently, Renjun mistakenly revealed a random phone number, thinking it belonged to a sasaeng [stalker], on the fan communication platform. However, it was later revealed that the phone number belonged to a non-fan, and it was simply a case of mistaken dialing.
Even after the hiatus, Renjun has continued to report incidents of privacy invasion. Renjun warned, “I have a scary stalker. I’m really stressed. There are various ways to show love and support, so there’s no need to resort to extreme measures like this, right?” He also warned, “Whether they are young or old, I will not leave people who invade my privacy alone. Even if I suffer, I will fight back and ensure that they receive punishment.”
On the 21st of June, SM issued an apology regarding this matter. They wrote,
Meanwhile, Renjun announced a hiatus from activities in April. At the time, SM Entertainment stated, “Renjun recently visited a hospital due to poor physical and mental condition and received a medical recommendation for sufficient rest and recovery. We prioritize the artist’s health and, after careful discussion with Renjun, decided to focus on his treatment and recovery.”
