2017 was a pretty good year for dramas.

We saw some amazing romantic dramas as well as thrillers and sci-fi, not to mention time-travel dramas.

But I couldn’t help but feel that there were some big names that were missing. So I thought it would only be appropriate to make a video and complain about that.

So today at jazminemedia.com, I (Jazmine) will be talking about 9 Korean actors and actresses I wished had made a drama in 2017.

 Song Joong Ki

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

It was so refreshing to see the cutest oppa on screen back in 2016 hit drama “Descendants of The Sun.” sadly, he chose to become a ghost in 2017.

We can’t really blame him though; Song Joong Ki has been more of a movie actor that a drama actor. He has some good dramas but he’s had more success in his movies.

In 2017 he was busy filming his blockbuster movie “Battle Ship Island” alongside So Ji Sub and then was busy promoting for it. He was also busy planning for his wedding with the lovely Song Hye Kyo.

The two confirmed they were dating earlier 2017, and revealed their plans to get married back on October 31st. Their beautiful wedding was celebrated by many fans across the globe.

He did mention that he was in no hurry to come back with a drama. The actor is currently looking over projects of movies and dramas. He was offered the lead in Netflix original drama by writer Kim Eun Hee, the writer behind the hit drama “Signal.”

He turned down the offer because the drama was originally aiming to start shooting in October and this created a conflict between the project and his upcoming marriage.

He’s in no hurry to find his next project. Rest well oppa!

I hope I can see you come back with a drama soon, preferably something similar to “The Innocent Man.”

Gong Yoo

Call me greedy all you want!

Yes, I know “Goblin” ended in 2017.

But to be fair, it ended in late January 2017, isn’t that like 2016? This is what it felt like to me!

Gong Yoo is an exceptional actor who can play whatever role you cast him in. while his role as the goblin wasn’t my favourite, it was still memorable and pretty entertaining.

The actor has been very busy promoting and doing interviews after “Goblin” ended. Everyone was obsessed with him and the entire cast.

The actor did mention that his heart belongs to movie sets, which made me pretty upset to be honest, but with all honesty his movies are way better than his dramas.

He’s been away from the spotlight for a while. No news of an upcoming project of any sort have been brought up, but I have a hunch that he won’t be back with a drama any time soon.

Regardless, I really enjoy seeing his face twice a week for 2-3 months. I believe he’ll choose a movie as his next project, I can’t wait to see what kind of movie script he decides on.

Park Bo Gum

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

The cutie Park Bo Gum has been away for well over a year.

Ever since his 2016 hit drama “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds” he’s been busy doing CFs, magazine photoshoots and simply having fun hanging around people he likes such as his recent trip with his good friend Go Kyung Pyo.

Its been a while since he made any drama or movie comeback. He was last seen in a movie back in 2015, and his last drama in 2016.

As far as we know the cutie have gotten multiple offers but declined each one of them, the reason for that remains unknown.

The actor might want to rest and simply relax.

One thing’s for sure, this actor is on everyone’s list of actors they’ve missed in 2017.

He’s been away and I missed him. I can’t wait to see him comeback with a drama soon.

He did mention that he’d like to work with Song Joong Ki, the two share the same entertainment agency. Can someone please just cast both actors in a drama all about bromance?

Song Hye Kyo

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

The beautiful new wife of the lovely Song Joong Ki has also been away for a while.

Unlike her husband, she has been away from the drama and movie world. The actress didn’t work on anything in 2017.

After her hit drama “Descendants of The Sun,” she got busy promoting, doing interviews and doing CFs.

In 2017, it looks like the actress focused on having fun and dating her boyfriend Song Joong Ki back then.

She did various magazine spreads and was super busy preparing for her wedding. Which was magical btw!

The problem with unnie is that she’s a ghost.

Her previous drama before “Descendants of The Sun” was in 2013 “That Winter the wind blows” this was back in 2013 ya’ll.

She’s also not a frequent to movies, her last movie was in 2014.

Its very hard to see the ultimate beauty of Korean dramas so infrequently. Her appearances in dramas and movies are years apart and not as frequent.

But I do expect that she’s making a drama or a movie comeback in 2018.

It’d be interesting to see what kind of project she takes on next and whether the public will ever be able to ship her with anyone since her hit drama.

I’m curious to see how will unnie handle it and whether her next project will be anywhere near the success of “Descendants of The Sun.”

Lee Sung Kyung

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

I know what you’re going to say!

But “Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo” doesn’t count as a 2017 drama. It ended pretty early in January 2017, so basically Lee Sung Kyung unnie didn’t have any project in 2017.

She was busy filming here and there, but I had wanted to see her comeback with a drama in 2017 to build on her rising career as an actress.

In 2017, Lee Sung Kyung was revealed to have dated and then later broke up with Nam Joo Hyuk, her co-star and long-time model-friend of “Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo.”

The dating news were received well, but the couple didn’t have a happy ending and broke up not too long after they’ve announced they’re dating.

She snagged her first leading role in a movie opposite Yoo Hae Jin, a veteran Korean movie actor who does movies most of the time, almost all the movies he’s been in recently garnered positive attention and did well in the box office.

The upcoming movie is titled “Wrestler” and stars Yoo Hae Jin, Kim Min Jae, Lee Sung Kyung, Na Moon Hee, Sung Dong Il.

The movie tells the story of a former wrestler/single father (Yoo Hae Jin) who’s devoted to his son (Kim Min Jae) who works hard to become a great wrestler just like his father.

The father one day gets involved with a female friend (played by Lee Sung Kyung) whom the son has a crush on, but the woman falls in love with his father.

The upcoming movie has already wrapped filming back on October 17, and is slated to premiere in the former half of 2018.

Netizens were not happy with the huge age gap and the love story between Yoo Hae Jin and Lee Sung Kyung, some point out that its too big of an age gap to be considered normal.

Lee Sung Kyung and Yoo Hae Jin are 20 years apart, she was born back in 1990, while Yoo Hae Jin was born back in 1970.

And only recently, a couple of days ago, it was revealed that Lee Sung Kyung has been offered the lead female role in upcoming fantasy romance drama titled “About Time.”

“About Time” tells the story of a man who has lost his fortune and a woman who can see the life span of others by looking into their eyes.

Directing PD Kim Hyung Shik is directing the drama, he has previously worked on “Twenty again,” “Secret Door” and many other dramas.

The drama sounds interesting, I can’t wait to see her back with another drama soon.

Looks like she’s planning a return to the small screen in 2018.

Kim Woo Bin

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

This is a sad story ya’ll.

One of my favorite model-turned-actors shocked all of us with a devastating announcement in 2017.

The actor was supposed to start filming for his upcoming movie, but due to illness he had to step back.

After going to the hospital, the actor found out he had cancer, a rare type of cancer.

After revealing it to the media, fans were in utter shock. The actor had such a bright career that had to be halted because of unexpected health issues.

I am glad he took time off and didn’t do anything.

The actor revealed that his first round of therapy has ended and that he’s doing well. Many of his actor friends usually mention him in interviews and talk about how well he’s been fighting his battle against cancer.

I had high expectations of him in 2017, and I couldn’t wait to see him comeback with a drama or a movie. Sadly, and due to cancer, the talented actor had to put a halt on all of his activities.

He will likely resume his activities when he’s fully recovered. No rush though, I miss him badly and I cannot wait to see him back with a new drama but his health comes first.

I’ll be patiently waiting for oppas comeback and I am keeping him in my prayers.

I hope they give us good news soon!

Kang Ha Neul

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

Kang Ha Neul has been one actor I’ve been desperately wanting to see in a drama.

He was super busy in 2017. Having released three movies, he strikes me as a movie type of actor and that’s sad because he’s hella talented, I would like to see his face more than 2 hours in a theatre.

He has worked so hard on filming for his movies throughout 2017, and had only recently enlisted in the military, he enlisted back in September 2017.

When he’s discharged he’d be 30 years old, when compared to other actors, he’s actually enlisting at a younger age, he was born back in 1990. Other popular actors who are currently serving the military are 1987,88,89 liners.

His upcoming movie is set to be released on November 29. It tells the story of a younger brother (Kang Ha Neul) who admires his older brother Yoo-Seok (Kim Moo-Yul) who is perfect to him.

Yoo-Seok is kidnapped and comes back 19 days later, but he doesn’t remember anything. He is like a different person. Jin-Seok struggles to reveal the hidden truth behind Yoo-Seok.

All of the movies he’s been in throughout 2017 has been quiet memorable and had nice plotlines. He’s one of my favorite 90s-baby Korean actors. He has amazing talent.

I have to wait till 2019 before he comes back from the military and you wanna know whats worse? The fact that he might not even do a drama when exits the military.

No pressure cutie, but I’d prefer to see you in 2019 back in a drama.

Jo In Sung

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

An amazing actor who might not be everyone’s first choice for ‘an actor you’ve missed in 2017.’

He’s been busy and did film and promote his movie “King” opposite veteran actor Jung Woo Sung. But he’s been away from kdrama land for too long.

His last drama was “Its okay its love.” It was the drama that made me fall in love with him, I did see him in other dramas but it was only in “Its okay its love” that I realized what an amazing actor he was.

But that was back in 2014. He’s been away for toooo long, he needs to comeback with a drama.

He’s been filming for his upcoming movie “Ansi Fortress” since August 2017, Nam Joo Hyuk and Seol Hyun are among the cast.

It’s a historical film. Its set to be released some time in 2018.

I wonder whether oppa would be returning with a new drama in 2018. It would make his drama comeback in 4 years.

IU

https://www.jazminemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/9-Korean-actors-And-Actresses-We-Wished-Made-A-Drama-Comeback-In-2017.jpg

To be honest, at first I never thought that IU would be a good idol-actress.

In 2016 she proved me wrong with her spectacular performance as Hae Soo in “Scarlet Heart Ryeo.”

She starred opposite Lee Joon Gi, an amazing actor. The two made a cute couple and the visuals of that drama were out of this world.

The idol-actress has focused on her album in 2017 most. Acting might’ve been her main focus in 2016.

Her recent album in 2017 topped all major Korean charts upon its release.

There are some great news for fans though, the actress is coming back with a drama in 2018, but I don’t know if I’ll be watching.

The drama cast includes some of the most respected korean actors. She is set to be romancing an actor who’s 18 years older than her.

The drama is titled “Ahjussi” which refers to an older male in Korean.

Because I am not a fan of romance that features hug age gap, I think I’d pass on this one. I find it awkward, its not that I doubt her abilities to wow me, but I have a difficult time picturing her with someone 18 years older.

Buy hey! Its probably only me! A lot of her fans are super excited about her upcoming drama.

So this wraps up my list of 9 Korean actors and actresses I wanted to see comeback with a drama in 2017 but didn’t.

What about you guys? Do you agree with my list?

Is there a Korean actor or actress you’d like to add to this list?[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
