Seems like BIGBANG’s Gdragon and Taeyang are unable to postpone their military enlistment any further.
YG Entertainment released a statement on December 24, the agency explained that the two 1988 born idols are expected to enlist in the first half of 2018. Daesung and Seungri are still able to postpone but its still unclear whether they’ll postpone further or not.
There has been many rumors that the entire remaining four members of BIGBANG plan on enlisting around the same time to minimize the length of the group’s inactivity.
Back on December 12, the remaining four members held a concert at the Tokyo Dome, they gave hints regarding their pending enlistment telling their fans,
“Its sad that we won’t be able to meet you for a short while after this tour is over.”
Taeyang has only recently announced his plans to wed his girlfriend of four years Min Hyo Rin, the idol announced that he plans on registering his marriage before he enlists in the army.
BIGBANG will will hold their last concert this year “BIGBANG 2017 Concert ‘Last Dance’ in Seoul,” at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on December 30 and 31.
I knew this day was coming.
Regarding Seungri and Daesung, I think that it’d be better if they enlisted with them. If we assumed that Daesung enlisted in 2019, and Seungri enlisted in 2020, it means that BIGBANG will go a huge period without releasing music as a group.
This will total for more than 5 years if each member decided to enlist at the furthest date he’s allowed to. Since BIGBANG is an old group, 5 years is a huge gap, the public might forget about them.
This is why we’re hearing rumors of the remaining members planning on enlisting at once so it would only take them 2-3 years maximum to return with new music as a group, which isn’t different from a normal YG hiatus.
Wishing Taeyang and Gdragon all the best!
