Hyorin is known for being one of the most talented singers currently active in the Kpop scene, but she has revealed a heartbreaking detail about her infamous stomach tattoo.
On August 9 episode of tvN’s “Life Bar” Hyorin was one of the guests, she talked about her new starts as a soloist, running a business and her stomach scar.
“I have a tattoo on my belly. I got it because of the scars I had from my two surgeries. The scar used to give me stress.
I was born with ascites (which is abnormal accumulation fluid in the abdominal area) and was put in an incubator immediately after I was born. I was diagnosed with pediatric cancer (biliary atresia specifically).
I had successfully been through a surgery and then received another one a year later. So I had always thought about covering the scar with a tattoo, that’s why I got a cross tattoo over it.”
She revealed that she used to feel inferior and shy about her scar and explained that she felt a lot better after getting that tattoo because it helped her feel more confident and helped her with her self-esteem.
She also revealed a sweet detail, she added,
“Parents of kids who are also suffering from biliary atresia send mail to me things like ‘We gain strength from your music so keep making music and work hard,’ this inspires me to work really harder in the future. I received a lot of energy and strength from them.”
The MCs and guests were shocked that there was such a special meaning behind her tattoo.
We’re glad that Hyorin is doing so well these days! Keep slaying!
