I have great news to share with all the kdrama fans who are super excited about Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum’s upcoming drama “Boyfriend.”
On August 23, reports stated that the first script reading of the upcoming tvN drama has actually happened today. tvN returned with a statement confirming that the first script reading session took place today but they didn’t disclose the location or time of the script reading.
“Boyfriend,” tells the story of a woman who appears to have it all and an ordinary man who’s the complete opposite, it begs the question of whether its difficult to give up money and honor in exchange for a normal lifestyle.
Song Hye Kyo will play the role of Cha Soo Hyun, whose father occupied various political roles throughout his life, her family forced her to marry a chaebol son as soon as she graduated from college, she had a child with her husband, but eventually filed for divorce.
Park Bo Gum will play the role of Kim Jin Hyuk, an ordinary guy who works various part-time jobs while searching for a full-time one. He continues to fail in landing a regular job at the companies he wants to work in. With the money he collected from his part-time jobs, he begins a journey he has been planning for a year. There, he meets Cha Soo Hyun.
The drama will be produced by Bon Factory, the production company behind “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” “She was Pretty,” and “Master’s Sun.”
The PD director Par Shin Woo had previously worked on “Jealousy Incarnate,”the drama was written by Yoo Young Ah, who had previously worked on films like “Miracle in Cell No.7” and “Take Off.”
The first script reading session is great news to fans mainly because it signals that the drama will likely being filming very very soon.
Usually in kdramas, the filming begins shortly after the cast meet up for the first time and exchange greetings. The reading session lasts for 3-6 hours usually.
The actors usually begin with teaser trailers for characters and more soon follows.
The drama will air this upcoming November in the same time slot that’s currently occupied by “Familiar Wife,” it will air after “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” concludes. “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” is led by Seo In Guk and Jung So Min and will air on September 26 after “Familiar Wife” concludes.
Anticipation for the upcoming grand return of two hallyu stars is at an all-time high. The drama has an interesting outline and its helmed by an amazing writer and director who have many hit projects under their belts.
This will be Park Bo Gum’s return to the small screen after almost two years since his hit drama “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds” while it will be Song Hye Kyo’s first drama after her marriage to actor Song Joong Ki.
