One of the most anticipated kdramas of the second half has to be “Boyfriend” (literal title) or “Encounter” (English title). Ever since it was announced that Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum would be leading the drama, fans just couldn’t wait to see it.

Here is what we know about the drama so far.

The plot:

“Boyfriend” tells the story of a single mother named Cha Soo Hyun (Song Hye Kyo) who is the daughter of a big politician. She married a wealthy heir but later divorced and Kim Jin Hyuk (Park Bo Gum) who is an innocent young man that meets the heiress and they fall in love.

Kim Jin Hyuk keeps failing at finding a stable job at the companies he wishes to go to. He takes a trip and there he meets Cha Soo Hyun. However, he is content with his life and happy with what he has. He finds happiness in the smallest things.

Cha Soo Hyun is an unhappy human being who was never once able to make a decision herself, she was always told what do and how to behave because she comes from a classy family.

The cast:

The drama cast consists of Song Hye Kyo, Park Bo Gum, Go Chang Suk, Cha Hwa Yeon, Moon Sung Geun, Man Ki Ae, Shin Jung Geun, Baek Ji Won, Kwak Sun Young Block B’s P.O and many others.

The first script reading took place in the Sangam neighborhood of Seoul back in August.

Go Chang Suk will be playing the role of Cha Soo Hyun’s chauffeur and loyal friend. Kwak Sun Young will be playing Cha Soo Hyun’s administrative assistant.

Cha Hwa Yeon will be playing Cha Soo Hyun’s mother-in-law. Moon Sung Geun and Nam Ki Ae will be playing Cha Soo Hyun’s parents.

Shin Jung Geun and Baek Ji Won will be playing Kim Jin Hyuk’s parents. Block B P.O will be playing the role of Kim Jin Hyuk ’s younger brother.

However, another actor may be added to the cast. Actor Jang Seung Jo has been offered the role of Song Hye Kyo’s ex-husband. He is still positively considering the role but hasn’t accepted it yet.

Jang Seung Jo could be playing the role of Jung Woo Seok, Cha Soo Hyun’s ex-husband and heir to a major conglomerate.

Premiere date:

The drama will air after “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” concludes its run on November 22^nd.

It was recently confirmed that “Boyfriend” will air the following week on November 28.

The production staff and crew:

The drama started filming early September and the cast filmed in Cuba. They were supposed to originally film in Spain but that changed.

In late September, the main cast left to film there. They were spotted by local fans who said that they were extremely nice. Park Bo Gum even took time to snap photos with various fans.

Park Bo Gum was praised for his kind nature despite the extremely busy schedule.

The writer of this drama is Yoo Young A, who has previously worked on many projects mostly movies. The writer previous drama works include “Bel Ami” and “Entertainer.”

The writer notable movie scripts include the heartbreaking “Miracle in Cell No.7” and “My Annoying Brother.”

Director Park Shin Woo previous works include “Jealousy Incarnate” and “Hyde Jekyll, Me.”
