[BREAKING] Junhyung Announces Departure From Highlight Following Recent Controversy

In the recent development regarding the ongoing huge controversy surrounding Jung Joon Young, another idol has admitted to knowing about the hidden camera footage, Highlight Junhyung.

On March 14, both Junhyung and his agency Around Us Entertainment announced their official positions on the matter admitting that Junhyung knew about the hidden camera footage, the agency and Junhyung himself also announced his departure from the group.





To bring everyone up to speed on what happened, here is a quick recap.

Junhyung’s name came up during the reporting of March 11 from SBS, one of the singers mentioned was simply written down as ‘Singer Yong.’ SBS news report simulated screenshot of a chatroom with a singer called Yong.

In the text messages, Jung Joon Young states he was caught filming someone and sharing the video to which singer Yong asks if he was caught by the woman herself, this insinuates that Singer Yong knew about the footage.





Following the report, netizens searched for the possible singer, the family name Yong isn’t used often so people immediately pointed fingers at Highlight Yong Junhyung.

However, shortly after his name circulated the web both him and his agency firmly denied the allegations that he had anything knowledge of the hidden camera footage and clarified he wasn’t a part of any chatroom group, they simply stated that he was only asking Jung Joon Young about a recent issues relating to him at the time.

They said,

“Junhyung has never been in a chatroom where Jung Joon Young’s illegal hidden camera videos were shared.”

The agency also promised strict legal actions against those who defame his character or post false accusations or information.

Fast forward to March 14 afternoon, the idol personally delivered a long post to instagram to admit to his involvement with Jung Joon Young and announce his departure from the group as well.

His agency also released a statement to press apologizing for their previous statement.

In their official statement they explain Junhyung met with Jung Joon Young at a drinking gathering back in late 2015, the very next day he was contacting him via 1:1 kakao talk messages and was informed about him filming illegally hidden camera footage.

Junhyung personally admits to viewing the illegally filmed hidden camera footage and had even exchanged inappropriate remarks about the footage with Jung Joon Young.

In their statement, the agency explains that he attended questioning as a witness on March 13 regarding the ongoing investigation. The agency added that they learned of the fact thought police questioning and after learning of the severity of the issue they explain Junhyung participated in the questioning diligently.





The agency then stated,

“He is deeply apologetic towards fans of highlight and the members for breaking their trust; he knows the incident is not one that can be forgiven.

In order to take responsibility for his actions and prevent further damage to the group and its image (secondary damage), Junhyung will leave Highlight as of March 14, 2019.”

The label closed their statement with an apology for being unable to verify facts straight away and for releasing a quick response to such a huge incident.

“We sincerely apologize for being unable to accurately fact check despite Junhyung’s involvement in such a shameful incident; and for the hasty rushed official position which caused confusion to many people. We will be careful to prevent this from happening in the future.

Once again, we apologize to the fans who really cherish highlight.

We are sorry.”
