Ahn Hyo Seop, who voiced the character Jinwoo in the Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters, will walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards.

On the 13th of March, his agency The Present Company announced that Ahn Hyo Seop had been officially invited to the 98th Academy Awards.

Ahn Hyo Seop will depart on the 14th to attend the ceremony, which will be held on the 15th (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This will mark his first time attending the Academy Awards.

In the film, Ahn Hyo Seop provided the English dubbing voice for Jinwoo, the leader of the fictional group “Saja Boys.” On the large English-speaking online community Reddit, viewers posted positive reactions such as saying his voice “brought the character to life.”

“KPop Demon Hunters” tells the story of K-pop group “Huntrix,” who compete in popularity with “Saja Boys,” a group born from the spirit world, while protecting the world through music.

At the ceremony, the film’s theme song “Golden” will also be performed. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which hosts the awards, announced on its website on the 10th that vocalists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami—who performed as Huntrix’s voices—will sing the song on stage.

“KPop Demon Hunters” has been nominated at this year’s Academy Awards in two categories: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Meanwhile, a sequel has recently been confirmed. On the 13th, Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation announced that directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to lead the second chapter of the film. The sequel is currently in the early planning stages and is aiming for a 2029 release.
