One Of The Biggest Korean Veteran Actors, Ahn Sung Ki, Hospitalized In Critical Condition, Agency Issues Statement
Actor Ahn Sung Ki has been reported to be in critical condition, and his agency has expressed a cautious stance regarding reports claiming that he has “passed a critical point.”
On the 31st of December, his agency Artist Company told Ilgan Sports regarding Ahn Sung Ki’s current condition, “It is not at a stage where we can officially mention any improvement.”
Earlier, one media outlet cited an acquaintance of Ahn Sung Ki as saying that although he had overcome an immediate life-threatening crisis, he had not yet regained consciousness.
Ahn Sung Ki reportedly collapsed at around 4 p.m. on the 30th of December at his home after choking on food while eating. He received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and was transferred to the emergency room of a nearby hospital. He is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit and receiving treatment.
After the news became known, Artist Company stated, “Ahn Sung Ki was transferred to the hospital due to a sudden deterioration in his health and is receiving treatment under the care of medical staff.” The agency added, “His exact condition and future prognosis are being checked based on the judgment of the medical team.” They continued, “We ask that consideration for the stability of the actor and his family be given top priority,” and added, “If there are any additional confirmed details, we will provide updates through official channels.”
Born in 1952, Ahn Sung Ki was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and focused on treatment, receiving a complete recovery judgment the following year. However, a recurrence was later confirmed during follow-up observations, and he has continued his battle with the illness to this day.
