Byeon Woo Seok’s Security Personnel Under Fire For Excessive Protection, Head Of Security Issues Apology
The head of the security company responsible for guarding Byeon Woo Seok has apologized for the controversy surrounding excessive protection of the actor.
On the afternoon of the 13th of July, the security company’s representative acknowledged to News1, “The action of the bodyguard using a flashlight was wrong,” and added, “We deeply apologize for causing inconvenience to the public.”
Earlier that day, an online community post titled “Excessive Celebrity Security” garnered attention. It linked to a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showing Byeon Woo Seok at Incheon International Airport on the 12th, where a bodyguard was seen using a flashing light to protect him, which drew criticism.
The representative told media outlets, “We plan to provide internal re-education to all security personnel to prevent such incidents from happening again. We apologize for any discomfort caused to general passengers and for creating this situation.”
When asked about the necessity for such excessive security, the representative explained, “It is true that there was no situation requiring excessive security. We do not operate under such a system. We have not been running this security company for just 1-2 years, and we always ensure that we do not inconvenience fans or disrupt public passage unnecessarily.”
Regarding whether there was a specific plan to enhance security for Byeon Woo Seok, the representative said, “It’s not about strengthening security per se, but the recent increase in his fandom has raised concerns about potential safety incidents, so we are being extra cautious.” They added, “We prioritize the safety of not just the actors but also the surrounding people. Since there are non-fan members of the public present as well, we aim to prevent accidents without causing harm, and we apologize for this incident as the company representative. We will take internal measures to prevent this from happening again.”
Meanwhile, Byeon Woo Seok has gained significant popularity from the recently concluded tvN drama “Lovely Runner,” which ended on May 28th.
