Popular Supporting Actress Reveals She Stepped Down From 3 Projects After Learning She’s Pregnant
Actress Cha Chung Hwa revealed that she stepped down from three projects after finding out she was pregnant.
On June 16, a new video titled “Crash Landing on You – Emina Squad, Come on Over!” was uploaded to Kim Jung Nan’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Cha Chung Hwa said, “After I got pregnant, I had to drop out of three projects where I was supposed to play major roles. Since I was carrying a child, I was worried that doing action scenes might cause problems for my co-actors,” and added, “It was a villain role. So I was like, ‘Finally a villain role! Oh yeah!’ But since I had never been pregnant before, I didn’t know how my body would change. I thought I could do it.”
She continued, “I said, ‘I think I can do it!’ But the filming site went into chaos—how to modify the action scenes, how to handle underwater scenes, and so on. So I ended up stepping down from all the projects… and it was really upsetting.”
Kim Sun Young jokingly responded, “You should have given the role to me. I think I could’ve done well,” to which Cha Chung Hwa replied, “Then it wasn’t mine to begin with.”
Cha Chung Hwa added, “I had even gone through costume fittings. That’s when I started crying. I didn’t want my blessing to be a burden on anyone, so I thought stepping down was the right thing. But still, the tears just came,” and continued, “Then my mom said to me, ‘Chung Hwa, you’re carrying the most precious project of your life. Why are you upset about that? Dramas will always come again. If you can’t do it now, then it wasn’t yours to begin with.’”
She went on to say, “After that, I focused on prenatal care. It made me reflect. I had lived my life centered around acting, but now there’s someone more important than me. Now, I treasure the time I can spend practicing acting even more.”
Meanwhile, Cha Chung Hwa married a younger businessman in 2023. She announced her pregnancy three months after the wedding and gave birth later that year.
