Rising Actress Choi Ji Soo Tearfully Shares How She Managed To Pay Off Her Debt
Actor Choi Ji Soo was moved to tears after fully paying off her student loan debt.
On the most recent episode of MBC’s I Live Alone, viewers saw a glimpse of Choi Ji Soo’s life as she entered her third year of living alone. She was shown living in a small, cozy studio apartment with her cat, Gamja, and displayed impressive independence in her daily routine.
In the episode, she cleaned her washing machine and bathroom fixtures using used toothpaste and toothbrushes, and carefully maintained her home with various cleaning tools. Her meticulous habits impressed both Koo Sung Hwan and Kim Shin Young.
The most emotional moment for viewers came when she completed her final student loan payment after nine years of balancing acting work and part-time jobs. After transferring the last payment, she immediately called her mother.
She said: “Mom, I have no more debt now!” When her mother replied, “You worked so hard,” she became overwhelmed with emotion and eventually broke down in tears.
Choi Ji Soo shared: “My parents offered to help me, but I felt it was my responsibility since I was the one who went to that school.”
She continued reflecting on the long journey as she cried. After paying off her debt, she went shopping to buy a gift for herself, but ended up filling her cart mostly with cleaning supplies, drawing laughter with her practical and frugal habits.
The episode of I Live Alone recorded strong ratings, ranking first among Friday variety shows.
