Dispatch Exposes Cho Jin Woong For Alleged Serious Juvenile Crimes, He Admits To Past Delinquent Behavior But Denies Sexual Assault Allegations
Dispatch has exposed famous Korean actor Cho Jin Woong for several alleged crimes and past actions in a scathing report that has since gone viral, and the agency has since admitted to some things and denied others.
On December 5, his agency, Saram Entertainment, stated, “After confirming with the actor, we verified that he had engaged in wrongful behavior during his minor years. However, this is based on partially confirmed facts, and it is difficult to fully verify the circumstances from over 30 years ago. Related legal procedures have also already concluded, which limits what can be confirmed.”
Dispatch released an exclusive report earlier today about the actor exposing for allegedly using his father’s name to hide his crimes. They also allege that he changed his birthday date too to avoid being associated with his past crimes.
Regarding this claim, the agency explained, “Jo Jin Woong’s use of his father’s name as a stage name was not to hide his past but stemmed from his genuine desire to hold himself accountable and strive to become a better person. We sincerely ask for understanding of the actor’s true intentions.”
Dispatch claims that he committed a serious crime in high school and was sent to juvenile detention. Dispatch says they’ve confirmed the records and cite an informant who said, “Cho Jin Woong was a gangster. He stole cars with his gang. He was also involved in sexual assault.”
Dispatch also alleges that Cho Jin Woon was tried in his second year of high school for robbery and rape under the Special Act on the Punishment of Violent Crimes (1994).
The informant reported, “Cho Jin Woong’s gang attempted to commit sexual assault in a stolen vehicle. Cho Jin Woong and others were sent to a juvenile detention center for this incident. They spent half of their third year in the institution.”
Regarding this, the agency emphasized, “We want to make it clear that he was not involved in any acts related to sexual assault.”
Dispatch also alleged that after graduating from college, Cho Jin Woong began his career as a theater actor in a theater troupe. Around 2003, he severely assaulted a member of the troupe during a drinking party and was fined. It was also alleged that he had a prior drunk driving conviction. The informant stated, “It was after filming the movie ‘A Cruel History of Maljukgeori,'” adding, “He drove while intoxicated, and his license was revoked.”
Regarding this the agency said, “The actor deeply acknowledges and reflects on the moments in adulthood where poor judgment caused concern. We sincerely apologize to everyone who suffered harm or pain due to the actor’s past mistakes.”
Cho Jin Woong debuted in January 2004 in the film “A Cruel History of Maljukgeori.” His role was “Wild Horse Gang.” He abandoned his original name and began working under his father’s name, “Cho Jin Woong.”
In response to the report, his agency has stated they’re looking into it and will issue a statement soon.
