Popular Rising Actor Reveals He Was Scouted By JYP Entertainment

Actor Choo Young Woo revealed that he once received an offer to become a singer from JYP Entertainment.

On the June 24 episode of the YouTube variety show Salon Drip 2, Choo Young Woo shared, “Back in high school, I received a few offers from idol group agencies.”

When host Jang Do Yeon asked which companies had approached him, he replied, “I got offers from all the big ones. I definitely got one from JYP Entertainment, and I can’t remember exactly which of the two remaining big agencies the other one was.”

Choo Young Woo added, “It felt like a completely different world to me. I’m not from Seoul—I’m from Chungcheong Province—so I didn’t even dare to try.”

He continued, “One time I was approached at Daejeon Station, and another time when I went to visit Seoul. I guess I looked pretty good back then,” he said with a laugh.

Jang Do Yeon then mentioned Choo Young Woo’s father, Choo Seung Il, who was a model, commenting, “The DNA must be strong.”

Choo Young Woo’s mother, Kang Sung Jin, is also known to have been a model, and his younger brother, Cha Jung Woo (real name Choo Jung Woo), is a model and actor as well.

Jang Do Yeon remarked, “If both of your parents were models, I imagine your family would turn heads whenever you went out together.”

Choo Young Woo responded, “When I was little and held my dad’s hand in public, people really paid attention to him. As a kid, I used to find that kind of embarrassing.”
