“Confidence Queen” Starring Park Min Young Changes Air Date Following Shockingly Low Ratings In The 0% Range

TV Chosun’s weekend drama “Confidence Queen” will air at a different time!

On September 15, TV Chosun announced, “Confidence Queen will move from its original Saturday–Sunday 9:10 PM slot to 10:30 PM.”

Korean media suggests that this change appears to be an attempt to avoid direct competition with tvN’s weekend drama “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” starring YoonA.

“Confidence Queen” started with a 1.1% viewership rating (based on Nielsen Korea’s nationwide paid households) for its first episode, but dropped to 0.9% by its fourth episode. Meanwhile, “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” has soared as high as 15.4% in its 8th episode.

The low ratings for the drama shocked fans, especially since it’s led by the Hallyu actress Park Min Young, whose dramas usually do well in ratings, both domestically and internationally. Some fans believe its because of the airtime, while others believe it might be because of the broadcasting network its on. With 8 more episodes until it wraps up its run, there is interest in whether the drama will be able to recover its ratings and rise.

“Confidence Queen” tells the story of swindlers Yoon I Rang (Park Min Young), James (Park Hee Soon), and Myung Gu Ho (Joo Jong Hyuk) as they strip the wealth from villains across different fields. The drama is directed by Nam Ki Hoon (“Destined With You,” 2023) and written by Hong Seung Hyun (“Criminal Minds,” 2017).

Initially, discussions were underway for it to air on tvN, but those plans fell through. Currently, the drama is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Coupang Play.
