Highly Anticipated Upcoming Kdrama “Dear X” Under Fire Due To Plagiarism Allegations Related To Its Poster, Production Company Apologizes
The Highly Anticipated Upcoming Kdrama “Dear X” has issued an apology after plagiarism allegations were raised by netizens!
On the 9th of September, TVING said, “In the case of the launch poster for ‘Dear X,’ we belatedly recognized the similarity with a certain reference and immediately stopped using it. We took measures not to use it in the future. We sincerely apologize for causing discomfort by not carefully examining the production process. We will pay attention so that similar incidents will not be repeated through a thorough inspection process.”
The day before, the “Dear X” launch poster was pointed out to be similar to the Chinese movie “The Devotion of Suspect X.” The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Japanese writer Higashino Keigo. It was released in 2018.
“Dear X” is a melodrama thriller about actress “Baek Ah Jin” (Kim Yoo Jung), who wears a mask to survive, and “Yoon Joon Seo” (Kim Young Dae), who chooses hell in order to save her.
Director Lee Eung Bok of “Sweet Home” directs this project. PD Park So Hyun also lends strength. The drama will be released on November 6.
