Popular Actress Addresses Her Return To Acting In 5 Years In A 19+ Historical Drama
Go Ara shared her thoughts on returning after a long time with a 19+ historical romance drama.
On the 5th of February, a press conference for the TVING original series “Chunhwa Love Story” was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall. Director Lee Kwang Young, Go Ara, Jang Ryul, Kang Chanhee, Son Woo Hyun, and Han Seungyeon attended the event.
“Chunhwa Love Story” is a romantic youth historical drama revolving around Princess Hwa Ri (played by Go Ara), who, after failing at her first love, declares she will personally find a husband. This declaration leads to her becoming entangled with the city’s top playboy Hwan (played by Jang Ryul) and the perfect suitor Jang Won (played by Kang Chanhee).
Go Ara, playing the lead role of Hwa Ri, returns to dramas after five years and to historical dramas after about ten years. It is also her first challenge in an OTT series. She said with a smile, “It seems like I’ve been holding out for a long time to do such an interesting project.”
She added, “If you watch the entire series, there are parts of the story that naturally require it to be 19+ because of the content in the love story collection. Not just my character, but other characters and the message of the work were attractive, which led me to choose it.”
Go Ara, who was cast after Go Ah Sung’s injury, recalled, “I’m truly grateful. I was “lucky” to receive such a fun script on short notice. They asked me to review it quickly. I was already preparing for a different project, so I was in a ready state—actually preparing for a traditional historical drama.”
“When I read the script, I felt that life is all about making choices, and I empathized with Hwa Ri’s decisions. The lines were so fun, and the script was easy to read, so I joined the filming without any hesitation. The set atmosphere was really enjoyable,” she concluded.
