Famous Korean Actress Revealed To Have Reduced Her Appearance Fee In Upcoming Kdrama Due To Budget Restraints
News of Actress Go Hyun Jung, who is returning as a chilling serial killer in the drama “Queen Mantis,” has been revealed gaining attention.
Recently, SBS released a teaser poster of its upcoming drama “Queen Mantis” featuring lead actors Go Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon. This marks the first time the two have been shown together in promotional visuals, raising expectations for their intense presence and unique synergy.
The drama begins over 20 years after the notorious serial killer “Mantis” was caught, when a copycat murder occurs. To solve the case, detective Cha Soo Yeol (Jang Dong Yoon) unexpectedly teams up with “Mantis” herself—his own mother, Jung I Shin (Go Hyun Jung)—whom he has despised all his life, in this high-density crime thriller.
In tangent with that, earlier this year it was reported that Go Hyun Jung voluntarily reduced her appearance fee in consideration of the drama’s limited budget. Director Byun Young Joo, who is leading the project, shared, “The budget wasn’t generous, but the lead actors voluntarily lowered their fees. Thanks to that, we were able to rent better equipment, do an additional music recording, and most importantly, ensure that minor actors were paid fairly.”
This act of generosity drew attention, and now viewers are eager to see how Go Hyun Jung will portray a character completely different from her real-life personality, and how she will work alongside Jang Dong Yoon as a senior actor.
Meanwhile, SBS’s “Queen Mantis” will premiere on September 5 at 9:50 PM.
