Gong Hyo Jin Discusses Juggling Marriage Preparations In The Middle Of Filming “When The Stars Gossip”
Actress Gong Hyo Jin talked about preparing for her wedding while shooting her highly anticipated drama “When The Stars Gossip”!
Back in mid- December, Gong Hyo Jin attended the press conference for “When the Stars Gossip,” held at D-Cube City in Sindorim, Guro-gu, Seoul. She shared, “I’m grateful that the drama is being released as scheduled.”
She continued, “Even while reading the script, I anticipated that the post-production would take a long time. I thought we might see it in 2025, but I’m thankful it’s being released on time. The ones who worked the hardest are the CGI team. I’m excited to see the incredible visuals and background they’ve created for the drama.”
Reflecting on the filming process, she said, “That’s why I decided not to delay my wedding and just do it in the middle of everything. It was such a big event during the filming, and everyone was very considerate.”
She added, “I prepared for and held the wedding within 10 days, and during that time, Lee Min Ho really worked hard. After the wedding, I came back and was able to continue playing the lead in a romantic comedy the next day. It was great, especially since I got to do it with Lee Min Ho. Everything aligned perfectly.”
tvN’s new drama “When the Stars Gossip” is set in a zero-gravity space station and tells the story of Eve (played by Gong Hyo Jin), a boss working there, and Gong Ryong (played by Lee Min Ho), an unexpected guest on a secret mission, as they navigate life beyond Earth.
The drama presents a unique “space office” concept, portraying the space station as a “workplace” and the movement of astronauts as a “subway commute.” The depiction of bustling subway scenes during rush hours intertwined with the backdrop of space is both intriguing and oddly relatable.
Rather than focusing solely on the “space” aspect, the drama aims to highlight the “ordinary lives” of humans living there. Scenes of astronauts commuting in spacesuits, drinking coffee, and preparing reports in zero gravity mirror everyday life on Earth while offering an unfamiliar and fascinating perspective for viewers.
Gong Hyo Jin, renowned as the “queen of romantic comedies” and a “ratings guarantee” thanks to her performances in “Pasta,” “The Master’s Sun,” and “When the Camellia Blooms,” takes on the role of Eve, a boss heading into space. Her realistic portrayal is expected to resonate with viewers, even in the extraordinary setting of space.
She explained, “The unique space backdrop and the collaboration with writer Seo Sook Hyang and director Park Shin Woo were major factors in my decision. Eve is a character who appears cold on the outside but is warm-hearted. She’s more fascinated by experimental life forms than people, making her a truly unique figure.”
“When the Stars Gossip” is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 9:20 PM on tvN.
