Famous Korean Actor Suddenly Cancels Movie Interviews Due To Emergency Surgery For Acute Appendicitis
Actor Ha Jung Woo, who recently underwent emergency surgery for acute appendicitis, has temporarily canceled promotional interviews for his first directorial film in 10 years, “Lobby.”
On the 26th of March, the film’s production team announced, “Director Ha Jung Woo is currently recovering from acute appendicitis surgery. The media interviews scheduled for the 28th will unfortunately be canceled, and we ask for your understanding. We will provide further updates after monitoring his recovery.”
Ha Jung Woo was also absent from the “Lobby” press screening and media conference held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall on the 25th.
Initially, he was set to attend the event as both director and actor. However, due to his emergency surgery, only the rest of the cast—including Kim Eui Sung, Kang Hae Lim, Lee Dong Hwi, Park Byung Eun, Kang Mal Geum, and Choi Siwon—took the stage without him.
Although Ha Jung Woo expressed his willingness to continue his scheduled appearances, doctors advised him to focus on recovery, leading to the temporary suspension of promotional activities.
“Lobby” follows the story of Chang Wook (Ha Jung Woo), a startup CEO who knows nothing but research, as he embarks on his first-ever lobbying golf game to secure a 4 trillion-won government project. This marks Ha Jung Woo’s third directorial work after “Fasten Your Seatbelt” (2013) and “Chronicle of a Blood Merchant” (2015), heightening anticipation.
The film is set to premiere nationwide on Wednesday, April 2.
