Respected Korean Actress Issues Apology Over Two Year Old Youtube Video, Why?
Actress Han Ga In has issued an apology regarding a supplement recommendation video she posted roughly two years ago.
Han Ga In posted an apology on September 28 through the community board of her YouTube channel “Free Woman Han Ga In.”
She wrote, “After seeing the concerns raised recently about the albumin product I introduced on YouTube, I wanted to post to clarify the facts accurately.”
She continued, “That video was ‘bought with my own money’ content introducing a product I personally purchased and used, without any compensation or sponsorship,” adding, “As I disclosed beforehand, there is no falsehood whatsoever regarding whether it was an ad.”
She stressed, “It is our channel’s principle that whenever paid advertising is involved, we clearly mark it as ‘includes paid advertising’ so viewers can tell right away.”
However, she acknowledged that she had not been careful enough in how she introduced health-related products. Han Ga In said, “Regardless of whether it was an ad, introducing a health-related product based only on personal experience was not careful of me,” apologizing once again.
Regarding what led her to recommend the product, she explained, “I started buying and taking it regularly when my energy dropped after giving birth, and because I personally felt my condition improve, I recommended it to viewers.”
She added, “Through this, I realized how careful one must be when relying on subjective impressions to share information without rigorous verification,” and said, “I’m truly sorry for the confusion and concern caused by my lack of consideration.”
Finally, she promised, “Even for products I’ve purchased and tried myself, I will strictly verify objective facts before sharing them going forward,” and “I will listen more closely to viewers’ valuable feedback and make content more carefully.”
Han Ga In’s apology came after YouTube channel “Deadly Fox TV” raised issues with the advertising practices around the “drinkable albumin” product. On September 28, “Deadly Fox TV” released a video titled “Revealing The Real Culprit,” raising suspicions of exaggerated advertising and coordinated home-shopping tie-ins for the “drinkable albumin” product.
In particular, the channel raised suspicions that the product’s online search volume had been artificially inflated, and mentioned Han Ga In’s YouTube channel early in the video. In November 2024, Han Ga In had introduced the drinkable albumin product in a video titled “The Supplement I’ve Consistently Taken For 25 Years, Not A PPL.”
At the time, Han Ga In recommended the product with comments to the effect of, “It definitely works when you can’t get an IV drip,” and “This product is good for men.” In response, “Deadly Fox TV” argued that after analyzing the ingredient list, the effects Han Ga In mentioned were difficult to support, and also pointed out that the product’s food category is classified as a “mixed beverage.”
However, “Deadly Fox TV” drew a line, saying it’s difficult to view Han Ga In’s video as a direct factor in boosting the product’s popularity. The channel stated, “The timing is coincidental, but Han Ga In’s recommendation was only a single instance, and it’s hard to call it a direct factor in the albumin product’s popularity,” adding that it doesn’t appear directly connected to the home-shopping tie-in suspicions either.
