Reports Reveal Woman Fined For Threatening Han Ji Min Is The Same Stalker Of Boyfriend Choi Jung Hoon
A woman in her 30s who was sentenced to a fine in the first trial for repeatedly posting threats and insults against actress Han Ji Min has been confirmed to be the same person who stalked her boyfriend, Jannabi’s Choi Jung Hoon.
According to News1 and legal circles on October 17, Judge Lee Ye Rim of Criminal Single Judge Division 27 at the Seoul Central District Court sentenced a woman in her 30s, identified as A, to a fine of 6 million won (approximately $4,300) on October 16 on charges of threats and insults.
A is accused of posting 19 threatening and insulting posts on her social media from September to October 2024, immediately after Han Ji Min and Choi Jung Hoon’s relationship was revealed, tagging Han Ji Min and her acquaintances. At the time, A posted messages such as “I will sabotage the movie Han Ji Min stars in” and “Shut your mouth.” She also claimed that the couple’s relationship was false and demanded that they announce a breakup and stop their social media activity.
The investigation revealed that A had previously been punished for stalking crimes against Choi Jung Hoon. She had left hundreds of secret comments on Choi Jung Hoon’s personal blog, sending curses, demands for private meetings, death threats, and posts and photos meant to cause sexual shame. She had also continued stalking, even going near his agency, and received a finalized fine of 5 million won (approximately $3,600) and an order to complete a stalking treatment program.
After Choi Jung Hoon, A expanded her target to his girlfriend Han Ji Min and continued the harassment, and has now received consecutive guilty verdicts for separate crimes against the two.
The court pointed out, “The victim is an actress who works based on public attention. Despite making efforts to maintain a good reputation for a long time, she was caught up in controversy and her image suffered a serious blow,” adding, “There is a need to sound an alarm against the act of criticizing, cursing at, and spreading malicious rumors about others while relying on the anonymity of the online space.”
The court added that it took into account in sentencing that the defendant is a first-time offender who showed a remorseful attitude, and that there was no indication that she actually attempted to cause physical harm.
Han Ji Min and Choi Jung Hoon began a public relationship in August 2024, overcoming their 10-year age gap.
