Han So Hee Revealed To Have Lied About Her Age, She Explains The Heartbreaking Reason Why She Did It
It has been confirmed that Han So Hee, previously believed to have been born in 1994, was actually born in 1993, making her one year older than reported.
According to TenAsia’s report on the 31st of October, Han So Hee, often introduced as a 1994-born actress, is in fact 31 years old (in Korean age), making her an older “friend” to fellow actress Jeon Jong Seo.
Regarding this, Han So Hee explained through her agency 9ato Entertainment why she had to live as a 1994-born rather than her actual birth year of 1993. The background to this involves fraud charges against her mother. During her elementary school years, due to her mother’s fraud charge, Han So Hee was unable to attend school normally and was able to resume her education only after a year.
Han So Hee told Ten Asia, “When I was in the 4th grade, I was forced to move to Ulsan due to my mother being wanted. I spent a year at home in a suspended academic state and then returned to Wonju to re-enroll in 4th grade after my mother was imprisoned,” explaining that from then on, she continued with her 1994-born classmates, leading to her debut in the entertainment industry.
Han So Hee’s mother, Shin Mo, is currently still in prison. Shin was detained on September 3 on charges of operating an illegal gambling website across 12 PC cafes in Wonju, Gangwon Province, over the course of approximately 20 months, from December 2022 until the end of August this year.
In response, Han So Hee’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, stated, “This is purely her mother’s personal matter. Actress Han So Hee, upon learning of the incident, expressed indescribable feelings of distress,” adding, “Once again, we clarify that this incident is solely her mother’s doing and unrelated to the actress. We apologize for sharing uncomfortable news related to a personal matter rather than her work.”
Meanwhile, Han So Hee is actively working across various projects. She starred as Yoon Chae Ok in Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature 2, which premiered on September 27, and made her big screen debut in Heavy Snow (directed by Yoon Soo Ik), released on the 23rd. In Heavy Snow, Han So Hee played Seol Yi, a high-teen star, receiving praise for her lyrical and sensitive performance.
