Hwang In Yeop Expresses Disappointment Over Low Ratings for “Dream to You”
Actor Hwang In Yeop has expressed disappointment over the underwhelming ratings of “Dream to You.” He recently met with reporters at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to discuss his role in ENA’s “Dream to You,” a romantic comedy that follows the reunion of Woo Su Bin, a genius film director who returns after achieving his dream, and Joo I Jae (played by Hyeri), a reporter working just to make ends meet who has long since given up on hers. In the drama, Hwang In Yeop played Woo Su Bin, the genius director who returns to keep a promise from the past and reunite with Joo I Jae, his first love and true dream.
“Dream to You,” which wrapped up on August 18th, stayed in the 2 percent ratings range for its entire run, a disappointing result. Regarding this, Hwang In Yeop said, “It’s really disappointing. Because the process was so good, my expectations grew that it could do just as well. The chemistry between the actors was great and the rhythm never broke, so I really expected it to do well.” He continued, laughing, “I honestly wished a few more people had watched it. Still, when I talked with the director and the other actors, we said, ‘We had such a fun time filming and the process itself was so good, isn’t that enough?'” He added, “The broadcast is over, but people can still binge it on OTT, so I hope more people check it out going forward.”
He also expressed a deep sense of loss at seeing the project end. Hwang In Yeop shared, “I still feel a lot of sadness, so I’ve been calling and texting the director and the other actors. We even talked about meeting again if the opportunity comes up in a future project.” He also said, “Every part of it, from start to finish, was great. I think it’ll stay with me for a long time. Since it was my first romantic comedy, it’s going to be a meaningful project for me.”
