Will “Doctor Cha” get a season 2?
On September 1, a representative from the production company SLL stated to Newsen, “There has been no concrete discussion yet regarding the production of ‘Doctor Cha’ season 2.”
This follows several reports by media outlets that alleged Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul are reprising their roles in “Doctor Cha” season 2 creating massive excitement among fans. Then, Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul’s agency Alien Company confirmed, “Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul will star in Season 2 of ‘Doctor Cha.’”
“Doctor Cha,” which ended in 2023, told the story of Cha Jung Sook (played by Uhm Jung Hwa), a housewife of 20 years who became a first-year resident. The drama achieved great success, recording its highest viewership rating of 18.546% nationwide (based on Nielsen Korea’s paid households).
Season 1 ended with Cha Jung Sook discovering true happiness in her present life. After divorcing Seo In Ho (Kim Byung Chul), she became a family medicine specialist and opened the “Cha Jung Sook Clinic.”
Seo In Ho rose to the position of the youngest hospital director in Gusan University Hospital’s history, Choi Seung Hee (Myung Se Bin) took over a nursing hospital, and Roy Kim (Min Woo Hyuk), who once had feelings for Cha Jung Sook, found new love.
With Season 1 concluding with Cha Jung Sook and Seo In Ho’s divorce, many are curious about what kind of story would unfold if a Season 2 were to be produced.
