IU And Byeon Woo Seok’s Highly Anticipated Drama Finally Confirms Air Date + New Stills Revealed
MBC has confirmed the premiere date for its highly anticipated drama starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok, “Perfect Crown.”
O March 6, MBC’s new Friday–Saturday drama “Perfect Crown” confirmed it will premiere on April 10. It will follow the currently airing drama “In Your Radiant Season” and will consist of 12 episodes.
Originally, the production team was considering several broadcast dates in April. However, because the Japan–Korea match of the 2026 World Baseball Classic scheduled for March 7 caused the Friday–Saturday drama “In Your Radiant Season” to be preempted, the finale of that drama was pushed back by one week. As a result, the premiere of “Perfect Crown” was naturally set for the second week of April, on the 10th.
“Perfect Crown” is a romance drama set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy version of South Korea. It tells the story of a woman who has everything as a chaebol but is frustrated because she is a commoner, and a man who is the king’s son but is sad because he cannot have anything. Together, they challenge fate and break social status barriers.
The drama gained major attention from the casting stage, with top stars IU and Byeon Woo Seok taking the lead roles, drawing strong interest from global fans.
IU will play Seong Hee Ju, a wealthy chaebol who has everything except noble status, while Byeon Woo Seok will portray Grand Prince Ian, a royal who cannot become king. The drama is also drawing attention because it is IU’s next project after “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” and Byeon Woo Seok’s follow-up project after “Lovely Runner.”
With IU and Byeon Woo Seok teaming up, attention is now focused on whether “Perfect Crown” will be able to break MBC’s long-standing 20% ratings barrier and how viewers will respond.
