Famous actor Ji Chang Wook recently participated in an interview after the conclusion of Disney+’s Gangnam B-Side, and had this to say about filming action scenes!

In the drama, Ji Chang Wook plays the role of Yoon Gil Ho, a quiet character who fiercely protects those he cares for, with desperation and determination visible on his face.

Ji Chang Wook expressed his attraction to the role during an interview and said, “When I first read the script, I was eager to take on the role. Yoon Gil Ho is someone who holds onto his values despite being in the dark. Gil Ho isn’t simply good or bad. He acts based on his reasons and protects them to the end. This complexity makes it hard to see him as just a villain.”

The duality of Yoon Gil Ho is his most captivating trait. While he fights the world with strength and ruthlessness, he also exhibits warmth toward people. Ji Chang Wook dedicated significant effort to expressing this complexity, saying, “For some, Yoon Gil Ho is a protector, while for others, he’s a criminal. Without judgment, I focused on immersing myself into the situations and pouring energy into the character on set.”

The drama has achieved significant success, ranking first globally in Disney+ TV shows according to FlixPatrol. It also topped the charts in South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Ji Chang Wook credited the production team, highlighting the show’s ability to combine entertainment with relatable stories.

The actor shared his surprise at its success: “Sometimes, I’d hear updates about its rising rankings and realized people were tuning in more as episodes progressed. Perhaps it resonated because the story touches on real-life issues.”

Having taken on action roles in The Worst of Evil, Gangnam B-Side, and his upcoming project A City of Pieces, Ji Chang Wook has cemented himself as an action star. However, he admitted, “Honestly, I dislike action scenes. They’re exhausting, but once committed, I do my best. Thankfully, my efforts seem appreciated.”

He revealed a desire for change, saying, “I really want to do a romantic comedy. It’s more appealing than action. Even though I say I dislike action, if a good role comes along, I might take it again.”
