Beloved Actress Opens Up About Her Husband And Married Life For The 1st Time Since Her Wedding

Jo Bo Ah has shared her thoughts on her latest project, married life , and more!

Recently, Jo Bo Ah sat down for a round interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, to discuss the Netflix original series “Dear Hongrang.”

“Dear Hongrang” is a historical mystery melodrama that follows the story of Hongrang (played by Lee Jae Wook), the long-lost son of Joseon’s largest merchant clan, who returns 12 years later with no memory of his past. His half-sister Jae Yi (played by Jo Bo Ah) is the only one who suspects he may not be who he claims to be. As they grow closer, a complex and inexplicable bond begins to form between them.

Jo Bo Ah plays Jae Yi, a woman who’s lived her life under strict control and desperately searches for her missing brother. When he returns as a stranger, she becomes convinced he’s a fake, but over time, her emotions begin to shift, and Jo Bo Ah portrays this inner turmoil with nuance and depth.

Reflecting on the project, Jo Bo Ah shared, “We wrapped filming last May, so it’s been about a year until the release. The shoot itself took around eight months, which was quite a long time.”

She continued, “Since the ending was so tragic, I’ve heard from a lot of people who felt deeply emotional watching it. They told me, ‘It was heartbreaking,’ ‘I cried with you,’ ‘Jae Wook was amazing,’ and ‘You both really gave it your all.’”

She also spoke highly of her co-star Lee Jae Wook, saying, “He’s full of passion and ambition. He had such a good attitude on set, not only with the role but in how he interacted with the staff and fellow actors. It made him a strong and reliable presence on set.”

Jo Bo Ah went on to add, “Many of our scenes were shot in challenging environments, where safety had to come first. Jae Wook was very thoughtful and helped us stay safe while also creating synergy as partners.”

On a personal note, Jo Bo Ah also opened up about her life post-marriage. She surprised many when she announced her wedding last October without any prior dating rumors. “I’ve always had dreams of marriage since I was young, but I also had passion for my work, so I put it off as long as I could,” she explained. “I try to keep my work and personal life separate.”

Although she was cautious when speaking about her husband, she said with a smile, “He’s handsome in my eyes,” and jokingly added, “He’s too good for me.” As for children, she shared, “I was raised in a warm and loving home, so I’ve always dreamed of having a family like my parents.” On honeymoon plans, she simply said, “We haven’t made any yet.”

“Dear Hongrang” is now streaming on Netflix.
