One Of The Biggest Hallyu Actresses Reportedly Leaving Agency After 3 Years, Her Next Step Gains Attention
Actress Jun Ji Hyun, one of the biggest Hallyu actresses, is reportedly considering establishing her own one-person agency, after leaving her current agency.
According to a News1 report on June 24, Jun Ji Hyun recently ended her exclusive contract with IEUM HASHTAG. Both sides have agreed not to renew the contract.
Following this, rumors began circulating within the entertainment industry that Jun Ji Hyun might go independent and launch a new company alongside her longtime manager, leading to speculation about the formation of a one-person agency.
However, industry insiders say that nothing has been decided yet. A broadcasting source stated, “Jun Ji Hyun is currently reviewing various options.”
Jun Ji Hyun signed with IEUM HASHTAG in 2022. The agency was founded by Kim Sun Jung, former CEO of Culture Depot, which previously managed Jun Ji Hyun. After three years, the two sides have decided to part ways and pursue separate paths.
Interestingly, it was also recently revealed that actress Kim So Hyun, who signed with the agency around the same time as Jun Ji Hyun, will also be leaving the company without renewing her contract.
Jun Ji Hyun debuted in 1997 through the magazine “Ecole” and immediately rose to fame as a youth icon. She showcased her ability to portray a wide range of unique characters in films such as “Il Mare,” “My Sassy Girl,” “Windstruck,” “The Thieves,” “The Berlin File,” and “Assassination.” She also appeared in dramas including “Happy Together,” “My Love from the Star,” “Legend of the Blue Sea,” “Kingdom Season 2,” and “Kingdom: Ashin of the North,” taking on various genres throughout her career.
Her next project is the Disney+ series “Polaris.” The story follows the mysterious special agent Sanho (played by Kang Dong Won) and Moon Ju as they uncover the truth behind a major incident. Jun Ji Hyun plays Moon Ju, a diplomat and former UN ambassador who has built an international reputation. The series is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year.
