Jung So Min Directly Addresses Dating Rumors With Jung Hae In In Recent Interview
Actress Jung So Min has explained the dating rumors between her and Jung Hae In, with whom she acted as a couple in the recently concluded tvN romantic comedy drama “Love Next Door.”
“Love Next Door” depicts the story of Baek Seok Ryoo, who returns to her hometown to start a new life after getting tired of working abroad, and Choi Seung Hyo, her childhood friend, as they develop a romantic relationship. As the title suggests, their mothers are lifelong friends, which sets the foundation for Seok Ryoo and Seung Hyo’s longstanding friendship since childhood.
During a meeting with reporters in a café in Gangnam on the 8th of October, Jung So Min said, “Not only in this project but always, I try to adjust to the other actor as much as possible to ensure they can act comfortably.” She dismissed the dating rumors as simply a ‘misunderstanding.’
The dating rumors stemmed from how well Jung So Min and Jung Hae In portrayed a couple in the drama, which heightened viewer immersion and led to comments such as “They seem to be dating in real life.”
Regarding her character, Jung So Min said, “I was happy to meet a character I wanted to root for. Everyone goes through burnout at some point in their lives, and there are times when it’s hard to control oneself. Seok Ryoo’s story made me want to comfort her.”
“Love Next Door” is also a family drama. It focuses not only on the two main characters, Baek Seok Ryoo and Choi Seung Hyo, but also on their parents, exploring the relationships between the protagonists and their families.
Jung So Min commented, “I liked that it portrayed stories from different generations. It blended not only the stories of my generation but also those of the parents’ generation we grew up watching, so there were relatable points for everyone.”
Jung So Min, who debuted in the 2010 SBS drama Bad Guy, earned the nickname “Rom-Com Queen” through her work in dramas such as Because This Is My First Life (2017), Monthly Magazine Home (2021), and Alchemy of Souls (2022).
Regarding this title, she said, “I’m grateful for any kind of label,” adding, “I’ve naturally done a lot of romantic comedies, but I want to challenge myself with other genres too.”
However, Jung So Min also explained, “In the past, I craved certain genres or roles, but now I focus more on the story and the character itself. If the genre becomes the most important condition, I might miss out on important aspects. So, I now prioritize whether the story is something that captivates and fascinates me.”
