Actor Jung Sung Il has divorced after nine years of marriage.

On October 14, Jung Sung Il’s agency, XYZ Studio, stated, “After a long period of careful consideration together with his spouse, Jung Sung Il has decided to end his marriage. This decision was made through mutual agreement, not due to any fault of either party,” urging people to refrain from spreading false information or speculation.

They continued, “Although their legal relationship has ended, they continue to support each other on their separate paths and are faithfully doing their best to raise their child together. Jung Sung Il will continue to show his best as an actor, so we ask for your continued interest and support.”

Jung Sung Il had previously revealed in interviews and broadcasts that he met his wife through a friend, dated for three years, broke up, then reunited by chance and married just three months later — drawing attention for his movie-like love story. The two married in 2016 and have one son.

Known as the “Daehak-ro Prince” for his popularity on the theater stage, Jung Sung Il gained widespread recognition after the release of the 2022 Netflix original “The Glory,” where he played Ha Do Young, the husband of Park Yeon Jin (played by Lim Ji Yeon).

He quickly rose to leading-man status, starring in the Disney+ series “Trigger,” released in January, as PD Han Do, a man striving for justice. In September, he made his big-screen leading debut with the film “Murderer Report.”

He is currently awaiting the release of the Disney+ original “MADE IN KOREA.”
