2PM’s Junho Revealed To Have Undergone An Intensive Tax Audit, JYP Issues An Explanation
2PM member and actor Lee Junho’s agency has addressed recent tax evasion allegations, stating that “there is nothing improper” regarding the matter.
On December 26, JYP Entertainment released a statement, saying, “After confirming with Lee Junho, it has been verified that he fully complied with a tax audit conducted in September last year by the Seoul Regional Tax Office’s Second Bureau of Investigation as part of a routine, non-regular tax audit for corporate artists. This investigation was not initiated due to suspicions of tax evasion.”
The agency explained, “Following the advice of tax advisors, Lee Junho has always filed taxes diligently. Due to differing perspectives between tax authorities and the tax advisors, additional taxes were paid. This was the first non-regular tax audit in his 17-year career, and he complied with all laws and procedures, settling any disputed amounts. Claims of intentional tax evasion are false.”
They emphasized, “Since his debut, Lee Junho has faithfully fulfilled his tax obligations, and there is no misconduct regarding this matter.”
In September of last year, the Seoul Regional Tax Office’s Second Bureau of Investigation conducted a non-regular tax audit on Lee Junho. The audit was part of a broader investigation targeting high-net-worth individuals under the category of corporate artists. This led to the collection of a significant amount in additional taxes, sparking speculation about potential tax evasion by Lee Junho.
