KBS Drama Starring Very Reputable Actors Ends With Disappointing Ratings In The 0% Range Breaking An Unfortunate Record, Why Did It Happen?
The KBS drama “Kick Kick Kick Kick” has failed to generate hype despite its star-studded cast and recorded ratings in the 0% range.
The drama led by Ji Jin Hee, Lee Kyoo Hyung, Kim Ju-Hun and rising actor Lee Min Jae tells the story of a former star producer who establishes a content production company and race to get 3 million subscribers.
Despite the known cast members and the comedy aspect, the drama failed to generate buzz. Its director wanted to blend several aspects of comedy including deadpan humor, physical humor and jokes. Not only that but the director made it a point to reveal they intend for this series to be seasonal meaning it won’t have one season.
Despite the best of intentions, the drama’s ratings plummeted and its finale recorded an abysmal 0.3% in average nationwide ratings, its lowest rating of its entire run.
With this, the drama has made multiple records, including being the 1st of its kind to record the lowest rating in terrestrial drama history, with a mere 0.3%. Furthermore, in the Seoul metropolitan area, it fell into the 0% range within just two episodes of airing.
Many K-netizens and general viewers pointed out that they had no idea this drama even aired or existed. And to make matters worse, as of episode 7, KBS moved the drama to 10:50 PM which meant it moved to a less favorable time slot as its known for being a less favorable time for attracting viewers.
The upcoming drama “Villains Everywhere” is set to take over this time slot and air next Wednesday and Thursday.
