Highly Anticipated New Kdrama With Star-Studded Cast Shocks With Low Ratings Despite Stellar Start, Why?
The newly aired KBS drama “Twelve” is struggling to maintain an audience despite an initial stellar start!
On August 31 episode of “Twelve,” the drama recorded an average nationwide rating of 3.1%, a drop from its 3rd episode rating the night before and its lowest rating yet.
The ratings have shocked fans especially since the drama was up to a stellar start last week when it premiered. The first episode had recorded 8.1% in ratings, taking the 1st spot in its timeslot. The drama’s 2nd episode already saw a decline to 5.9%, and its 3rd episode recorded 4.2%.
Many fans are wondering why the drama’s ratings have failed to go up. Some media outlets report the drama has received criticism for the special effects including CG and makeup, as well as the drawn-out plot, but since it is a pre-produced work, major revisions to the already created footage are impossible.
The drama also faces an uphill battle because of its competition. tvN’s newest series “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” is competing in the same timeslot and has already broken through the double digits in ratings.
“Twelve” tells the story of twelve angels who live in human form to protect mankind while battling against evil forces. It stars Ma Dong Seok, who established himself with a unique character in the film “The Outlaws” and achieved a huge box office hit. The drama also stars Park Hyung Sik, Seo In Guk and many more hit names.
With half of its 8 episodes now aired, attention is on whether “Twelve” will be able to hold onto viewers in the second half.
