Famous “Boys Over Flowers” Actor Who Started Farming Shares Insight Into His Daily Life
Former SS501 member and “Boys Over Flowers” actor Kim Hyun Joong’s recent status has resurfaced.
On the tvN program Free Doctor, which aired recently, Kim Hyun Joong was shown as a novice farmer.
Kim Hyun Joong was previously sued for assault and injury by his ex-girlfriend, who later gave birth to his child. He was acquitted of the assault charges, and the child was confirmed to be his. He was also caught for drunk driving.
In 2022, Kim Hyun Joong married a woman of the same age and now has two sons. He later revealed through YouTube that he has been farming.
He is currently farming on his 200-pyeong (approximately 660 square meters) plot of land in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Back in 2007, Kim Hyun Joong purchased several plots of land as an investment during the Saemangeum reclamation project. However, the project did not proceed smoothly, and he ended up selling at a 400 million won loss.
The land in Icheon remained unsold, forcing him to hold onto it for ten years. Although he purchased it for 200 million won, its value plummeted to 30 million won over the decade. Since it was classified as farmland, he had to cultivate it.
Unintentionally, Kim Hyun Joong began farming and surprisingly found it suited him well. He shared his farming journey on YouTube, gaining a positive response, and now has 1.21 million subscribers.
He started growing corn due to its relatively short cultivation period. Seeking advice, he consulted the village chief, but a major disaster struck when all his corn was knocked down.
Despite the struggles, he grew close to the village chief and used his connections to invite trot singer Shin In Sun to a local festival held in September last year.
Kim Hyun Joong is currently active overseas. Following his world tour across nine South American countries in 2023, he held an international dance concert last year. He also appeared in a Korea-Japan collaborative drama.
