Kim So Hyun And Chae Jong Hyeop Discuss Their New Drama “Serendipity’s Embrace”
Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop have talked about their highly anticipated new drama “Serendipity’s Embrace”!
On the 16th, the production presentation for tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Recently, “Serendipity’s Embrace” held its press conference, Director Song Hyun Wook and actors Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop, Yoon Ji On, and Kim Da Som attended the event to discuss the drama.
“Serendipity’s Embrace” tells the story of a clumsy and awkward first love that is rekindled after a chance encounter 10 years later, transforming into a fateful love. It is based on the webtoon of the same name and depicts the journey boys and girls reuniting as twenty-nine-year-old adults, finding their destiny amidst numerous coincidences in a heartwarming and delightful manner.
Regarding what makes this work different from his last ones, Director Song said, “I think the answer lies in the title. The two people meet after 10 years and get entangled as if by fate. Was it really just a coincidence for them?” He continued, “The memories of a confusing first love, which were frozen due to the inability to find answers during their high school years, are pieced together after 10 years. The process of developing new love is the differentiating point.”
In the drama, Kim So Hyun plays ‘Lee Hong Joo,’ an animation production PD who is afraid of love. After falling in love for the first time in high school and experiencing a harsh breakup, she becomes a ‘love skeptic.’
Kim So Hyun, who usually played calm roles, revealed that she incorporated a more innocent and playful side into this character. She said, “I’m happy to showcase ‘Serendipity’s Embrace’ amidst a thriving romance genre. Unlike ‘Hold Me Tight and Run,’ there are many ordinary and exciting elements.”
Chae Jong Hyeop, who plays ‘Kang Hoo Young,’ a financial planner with striking looks and a sharp mind, gained significant popularity in Japan with his first drama challenge “Eye Love You,” earning the nickname ‘Hyeop-sama.’
Returning to domestic works with “Serendipity’s Embrace,” Chae Jong Hyeop stated, “In the past, I often played kind or warm characters when liking someone. But this time, it’s different. I was more intrigued by how to express the opposite.” He added, “The word ‘first love’ evokes many images for people. It’s a much-anticipated work. I’m excited to show ‘Serendipity’s Embrace.'”
“Serendipity’s Embrace” will premiere on the 22nd at 8:40 PM.
