Kim So Yeon, Yeon Woo Jin And More Confirmed For 2025 JTBC Drama
JTBC’s new drama “Virtuous Sales” has confirmed the casting of Kim So Yeon, Yeon Woo Jin, Kim Sung Ryung, Kim Shin Young, and Lee Se Hee.
The drama is a story about the independence, growth, and friendship of the “Sales Sisters,” a group of four women who ventured into adult product door-to-door sales in a rural village in 1992, when even mentioning surnames was taboo. It depicts the story of women ahead of their time, who, while bringing healthy energy into the private world of couples, thrive themselves.
The drama is a remake of “Brief Encounters,” which aired on ITV in the UK in 2016. Kim So Yeon, Kim Sung Ryung, Kim Sun Young, and Lee Se Hee play the four “Sales Sisters,” while Yeon Woo Jin joins as a “American style” police officer in Geumje. They will bring back a subject that was taboo in the 90s, writing a frank and exciting story of self-reliance and growth.
First, the “queen of ratings,” Kim So Yeon, plays Han Jungsuk, a housewife who has lived a chaste life as her name suggests. She married her first love and lived a passive life. However, unable to buy a new bag for her only son and worrying about monthly rent, she awakens. To earn money, she jumps into the door-to-door sales of foreign adult products and discovers her innate marketing talent.
Yeon Woo Jin plays Kim Do Hyun, a police officer with an “American style” who has lived in the US. A graduate of an Ivy League university, he returned to Korea, rising rapidly through the ranks at Seoul Gangnam Police Station. For some reason, he transfers to Geumje Police Station.
Kim Sung Ryung, plays Oh Geum Hee, the elegant brain of the “Sales Sisters.” She was a known woman from Ewha Womans University, but now lives a boring life in her husband’s hometown of Geumje. To help Jungsuk, who once worked as her housekeeper, she joins the adult product sales and unexpectedly undergoes self-reflection, leading to a more dynamic 50s than her 20s.
Kim Sun Young plays Seo Young Bok, a mother of many. Although she enjoys great marital harmony and has a large family, her reality is different. Poverty forces her six-member family into a single room. To provide separate rooms for her children, she joins the door-to-door sales. Having experienced numerous hardships while raising four children, she brings humor to extreme situations, playing a crucial role in the “Sales Sisters.”
Lee Se Hee plays Lee Joo Ri, Geumje’s “it girl” and a single mother. Running a beauty salon, she handles lecherous men with a smiling face and playful words. Initially thinking of door-to-door sales as an exciting event, she grows into a cheerful and resilient “fact bomber” who lifts her older sisters, never despairing in any situation.
The drama is set to air on JTBC in 2025.
