Kim Soo Hyun Files Lawsuit Against Kim Sae Ron’s Family And Garo Sero Institute Over Inappropriate Pant-less Photo Shared On Broadcast
Actor Kim Soo Hyun‘s agency, Gold Medalist, has filed a complaint against the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute and the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae Ron.
On the 20th of March, Gold Medalist stated, “As the agency managing Kim Soo Hyun, we have filed a complaint against Kim Se Ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as Garo Sero), and an unidentified person claiming to be the late Kim Sae Ron’s family member or aunt. They are accused of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of footage taken with a camera, etc.), among other charges, for posting a photo of Kim Soo Hyun taken while he was without pants during a live broadcast on YouTube. The photo was allegedly provided to Kim Se Ui by the late Kim Sae Ron’s family.”
Gold Medalist expressed their sorrow over the passing of Kim Sae Ron, who was once part of the agency, saying, “We feel deep grief over the news of Kim Sae Ron’s passing and mourn for her.” However, they emphasized, “The photo posted on Garo Sero’s YouTube channel was taken when Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron, who was an adult at the time, were in a relationship. It captures Kim Soo Hyun’s body in a way that could cause him sexual humiliation. This is a private photo that should never have been made public. Posting such a photo on YouTube is a clear criminal act, and Garo Sero has even threatened to release more similar photos. Given the seriousness of these actions, Gold Medalist has no choice but to take strong legal measures.”
Regarding the inclusion of Kim Sae Ron’s family in the complaint, Gold Medalist explained, “Out of respect for the bereaved family, we had refrained from taking legal action. However, the unauthorized distribution of a photo depicting Kim Soo Hyun’s body is an extremely serious act that cannot be ignored, and we are concerned that such actions may continue. Therefore, we have decided to proceed with a legal complaint against the late Kim Sae Ron’s family as well. If they and Garo Sero continue spreading false information, Gold Medalist will have no choice but to take full-scale legal action to protect the honor of our company and our actor.”
Previously, Kim Sae Ron’s family claimed through Garo Sero that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron for six years, starting in 2015 when she was 15 years old. They also alleged that Gold Medalist had pressured them to pay 700 million won for damages related to Kim Sae Ron’s DUI accident. During this process, Garo Sero released the photo of Kim Soo Hyun in question. Gold Medalist refuted these claims, stating that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were only in a relationship between 2019 and 2020, after she had become an adult.
