Kim Woo Bin Opens Up About The Pain He Endured After His Cancer Diagnosis
Actor Kim Woo Bin has opened up about the pain he endured while battling nasopharyngeal cancer and the realizations that came from that difficult time.
On October 12, Kim Woo Bin appeared on Jung Jae Hyung’s YouTube channel “Yojung Jaehyung”, where he had an honest and heartfelt conversation.
In the video, Kim Woo Bin recalled, “In the past, if I had a 3-hour break, I’d sleep for one hour and work out for two,” reflecting on his previous routine. He then revealed that after his illness, “I now sleep for the full 3 hours.”
Kim Woo Bin shared that when he was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017, he had to give up several planned projects — including Director Choi Dong Hoon’s film “Wiretap”, for which he had been cast only a month before learning about his illness. He said, “Many thoughts crossed my mind. The time I spent being sick ended up being meaningful to me. That period of rest gifted me only good things.”
He continued, “Honestly, the pain level was so high that I don’t even remember it. The pain didn’t stay with me — instead, it made me realize how much love there is between myself and others, and how many things I had taken for granted. Since then, my heart feels so much lighter.”
Through his recovery, Kim Woo Bin said he learned to appreciate himself and the people around him more deeply, expressing gratitude by saying, “That time only left good things behind.”
Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017 and was declared fully recovered in 2019. In this new video, he shared his reflections and everyday life after recovery, touching many viewers with his sincerity and resilience.
