Veteran Actress Kim Young Ok Opens Up About Caring For Her Paralyzed Grandson For Years

Veteran actress Kim Young Ok, who is 89 years old, has shared her calm and composed perspective on life while mentioning her grandson, who was left paralyzed from the waist down following a tragic accident.

Recently, a video titled “Kim Young Ok” was uploaded to her YouTube channel, where she had a sincere conversation with singer Hwasa.

During the conversation, Hwasa opened up about her grief over her grandmother, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Kim Young Ok shared her own painful family experience to offer comfort.

Kim Young Ok revealed, “My grandson was also in a traffic accident and suffered severe injuries, going through a very difficult time.”

She continued, “In life, there are things no one can avoid. If something has already happened, the only thing you can do is live bravely and as if it’s okay.”

Her grandson is known to have been diagnosed with a severe disability after being hit by a vehicle driven by an unlicensed drunk driver in 2015. Over the years, Kim Young Ok has spoken on various programs about personally caring for her grandson for more than eight years, once expressing, “Getting older doesn’t mean you understand everything about life.”

Meanwhile, Kim Young Ok, who debuted in 1957, is now in her 68th year in the entertainment industry. She continues to remain active across both dramas and variety shows, solidifying her status as one of Korea’s most respected veteran actresses.
