Lee Jae Wook Opens Up About Upcoming Military Enlistment—Here’s What He Had to Say About When He Might Go

“Dear Hongrang” actor Lee Jae Wook has opened up about his thoughts on military enlistment.

Recently, a round interview with Lee Jae Wook for the Netflix series “Dear Hongrang” was held at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

“Dear Hongrang” is a mystery-romance historical drama that tells the story of Hong Rang, the son of Joseon’s largest merchant family, who returns after being missing for 12 years with no memory of his past. His half-sister Jae Yi is the only one who suspects his true identity, and a mysterious emotion begins to bloom between them.

Lee Jae Wook played the role of Hong Rang, earning praise for his emotional depth and action-packed performance.

Since his 2018 debut in the tvN drama “Memories of the Alhambra,” Lee Jae Wook has worked continuously without breaks, naturally drawing curiosity about his next project.

He raised anticipation by saying, “I plan to show a character that’s very different from the one in ‘Dear Hongrang.’”

He also revealed his passion for acting, saying, “I’m not good at taking breaks. When I watch other projects, I start to feel jealous. It makes me want to get back to work quickly.”

However, as a 1998-born actor now 27 years old (Korean age), he can no longer avoid thinking about military service.

Regarding this, he said, “There’s not much time left to delay it anymore. I hope projects continue to come out even while I’m in the military. I feel like I need to keep running hard,” expressing his wish to stay connected with audiences without a long hiatus.

Meanwhile, “Dear Hongrang” was released on May 16.
