Famous Korean Actress Addresses Grandfather’s Alleged Pro-Japanese Actions + Reveals She’s Cut Contact With Her Family A Long Time Ago
One of the biggest Korean actresses, actress Lee Ji Ah, has been the center of attention after her family’s current and past actions became viral news!
Recently, there had been rumors circulating around about Lee Ji Ah and their family dispute over a land inheritance issue left by her grandfather who reportedly had pro-Japanese past connections.
The actress has now spoken for the first time regarding her grandfather’s pro-Japanese history, the family inheritance news and such in a statement. In the statement to the press on February 21, she said, “I first learned about this matter in 2011 through a news article. Since then, I have visited the Center for Historical Truth and Justice multiple times to verify the facts and study related materials. During this process, I found records of my grandfather’s contributions to the Japanese government. Regardless of the historical context at the time, I believe such actions cannot be justified in any way.”
Regarding the land issue and inheritance, she clarified, “I have no knowledge of or involvement in the legal disputes over family property. If the land in question, located in Anyang, was acquired during the Japanese occupation, I firmly believe it should be returned to the state.”
Lee Ji Ah then shockingly revealed that she has not been in contact with her family for some time, she said, “Since becoming independent at the age of 18, I have not received any financial support from my parents. As embarrassing as it is to say, due to complicated family circumstances, I have not been in contact with them for over 10 years.”
She concluded, “I deeply acknowledge my grandfather’s historical wrongdoing and sincerely apologize as a descendant. Moving forward, I will continue to face historical truths with humility and live with a sense of responsibility.”
