“When Life Gives You Tangerines” Famous Actor Reveals How He Caught A Drunk Driver, And Why He Refused A Model Citizen Award
Actor Lee Jun Young shared a story about how he personally caught a drunk driver and handed them over to the police.
On the July 17 broadcast of JTBC’s One Meal Please episode 2, Lee Jun Young appeared as a guest.
Lee Jun Young has made a strong impression by appearing in several hit productions including Netflix’s D.P., Mask Girl, When Life Gives You Tangerines, and Weak Hero Class 2.
He shared, “I’m quite shy by nature, but when acting, I find comfort in the fact that I can legally express all emotions once the director yells ‘action’. I was lucky to be cast in a lot of Netflix productions.”
Lee especially pointed to D.P. as a turning point in his acting career. “There was a rooftop fight scene with actor Jung Hae In. I had a lot of regrets about my action scenes, so after that I started training in mixed martial arts. I try to do my own action scenes without stunt doubles whenever possible,” he said, revealing his dedication to his craft.
He also candidly opened up about his dating life. Saying he hasn’t had many relationships, he confessed, “I see people on variety shows say they’ve been hit on by celebrities, but that’s never happened to me. I don’t even have the courage to make a move first.”
When asked what he would do if someone approached him first, he laughed, “I think I’d run away on the spot. I wouldn’t even be able to say anything,” showing his shy side.
On another note, he shared an incident where he caught a drunk driver.
Lee recounted, “While I was on my way home from work, the driver in front of me almost hit the guardrail twice. I honked to warn them, but they didn’t respond. So I called the police, and when I was about to go home, they asked me to follow the car.”
He continued, “I figured it would be better for them to hit my car than someone else’s, so I followed them. I chased them for about an hour and helped apprehend the driver.”
However, he said he declined an offer to receive a “Model Citizen Award,” explaining, “There are people out there far more courageous and exemplary. I didn’t like the idea of receiving it just because the story got known. I decided to just accept their gratitude instead and turned it down.”
