Actor Lee Jung Jae, who has entered the Star Wars universe through the Disney+ drama ‘Acolyte,’ revealed behind-the-scenes stories during a recent interview.
During a guest appearance on the YouTube content ‘Meeting You’ hosted by singer Sung Si Kyung, Lee Jung Jae was asked about the filming period of ‘Acolyte.’ He replied, “There are a total of eight episodes, and it took about eight months to film. Before the filming period, I went two months earlier to practice martial arts and also studied English because there were a lot of English lines.”
Sung Si Kyung complimented Lee Jung Jae’s English skills, saying, “Even from watching the trailer, your English was so good.” However, Lee Jung Jae humbly responded, “I am not that good at English. It’s embarrassing.”
When asked about his practice routine, Lee Jung Jae mentioned that he had four dialogue coaches and practiced with them daily. He also mentioned that the coaches focused more on diction and pronunciation rather than emotions, stating that discussions about emotions were left to the director.

Lee Jung Jae revealed the extent of his English dialogue practice, saying, “We focused on pronunciation correction, pausing while speaking, and maintaining a good flow. I practiced so much that both sides of my tongue were worn out so I had a hard time eating, and even when I was sleeping, I had to mutter lines.”
Impressed by Lee Jung Jae’s efforts, Sung Si Kyung asked if he received praise from the production team. Lee Jung Jae replied, “The director and staff members all said I did well, but what’s more important is how the audience will perceive it. I’m curious about their reaction.”
Disney+ will globally release episodes 1 and 2 of ‘Acolyte’ on June 4th [in the U.S].
