BREAKING: Beloved Korean Actor Lee Sang Bo Passes Away, Police Investigating Cause
Actor Lee Sang Bo has passed away at the age of 45, and a funeral hall has been prepared.
On the 27th of March, news of Lee Sang Bo’s death was reported. He was found dead on the 26th of March, and police, who were dispatched after a report from his family, are currently investigating the exact cause of death. His funeral altar has been set up at Pyeongtaek Central Funeral Hall, Room 3.
Later, the police confirmed the news. According to the Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, Lee Sang Bo was discovered deceased at his residence in Pyeongtaek by a family member, who reported it.
As of now, no signs of external intrusion or criminal activity have been confirmed. Police are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Lee Sang Bo debuted in 2006 through the KBS2 drama The Invisible Man Choi Jang Soo. He later appeared in various works such as Golden Era of Daughter in Law, Bad Love, Private Lives, Miss Monte Cristo, The Elegant Empire, and the film Secretly Greatly.
In September 2022, he was embroiled in allegations of drug use. However, he explained that the substances were prescribed medication for depression treatment, not drugs, and was cleared of charges.
During the investigation, false reports emerged claiming that he had admitted to the charges, which led to him being stigmatized as a “drug-using actor.”
Later, a detailed analysis by the National Forensic Service found no narcotic substances in his body, and the Seoul police ultimately decided not to forward the case on charges of drug use.
Last year, he signed an exclusive contract with Korea Management Group. At the time, the agency stated, “We will spare no effort in providing full support,” adding, “He is currently waiting for his next project, so we ask for your continued interest and love.”
Despite the false accusation, Lee Sang Bo showed determination to continue acting. At the production presentation for “The Elegant Empire,” he said, “I was able to endure difficult times thanks to the support and encouragement of many people,” adding, “I want to repay them, even a little, through my work moving forward.”
May his soul rest in peace.
