Famous Actor Wins Big Against Controversial Former Agency, Agency Has To Pay $400,000 In Compensation
Lee Seung Gi has won his lawsuit against his former agency Hook Entertainment, thus, the agency must now compensate the actor-singer!
The Civil Agreement Division 20 of the Seoul Central District Court ruled on the 4th of April in the lawsuit filed by Hook Entertainment against Lee Seung Gi to confirm the non-existence of debt, stating, “Hook must pay Lee Seung Gi 580 million won [$400,538]. All other claims by Hook Entertainment for commission and counterclaims are dismissed.”
Lee Seung Gi and Hook Entertainment have been in conflict over settlement payments since 2022. Lee Seung Gi filed a lawsuit claiming that he had not received any payment for music usage fees during the 18 years he was with the agency since his debut.
Hook Entertainment sent Lee Seung Gi a settlement amount of 5.4 billion won, which it had calculated on its own, including unpaid settlements and delayed interest. Lee Seung Gi donated 5 billion won to society, excluding legal expenses.
Afterward, Hook changed its stance and filed a lawsuit to confirm the non-existence of debt, claiming, “We overpaid the advertising settlement compared to the actual amount. We must retrieve approximately 900 million won in advertising commission fees.”
However, Lee Seung Gi’s side countered that no agreement on the settlement had been made and that 3 billion won in unpaid settlement money still remains. He then filed a countersuit against Hook.
